I found out that my dad hires prostitutes sometimes but he told me it wasn't cheating since paid sex involves no feelings and they're shemales. I still feel like it's wrong but I don't know if I should tell my mom.

It is in fact cheating and the term "shemales" is offensive. Do what you want, just be aware of the affects and betrayal of not telling her. I am sorry this has happened, both you and your mother deserve better.

In addition to being morally wrong he is risking his own health AND your mother's from potential STDs.  Even with a shemale they can and do often have STDs as a sexual professional.   So your mother is at risk from a sexually transmitted disease because of your dad's infidelity.  So tell him he needs to either tell your mom, or you will.
