For overnight bus travel, do you have to book your own hotel when stopping for the night?
I'm considering taking a Greyhound bus trip to see someone several states away. The trip will stop overnight until the next morning. I've never traveled like this so I don't know how the overnight stuff works. I'm not sure if they have a special area arranged or if you have to book a hotel for the night, or what. And if you do, do you have to do it before your trip or can it wait until that night?
Like I said, I've never traveled that far by bus. I'm afraid to drive that far alone and have no one to take with me, and am afraid to fly. If anyone could tell me how the overnight stuff works with this, I'd greatly appreciate it!
ANDRE L - I already looked it up, which is why I was asking about this. At one point, the bus stops at 9:00 pm or so and doesn't go again until about 6:30 the next morning

You try to sleep in the bus seat as you just keep going day and night til you get to where you are going. This is not a restful thing to do but thousands do this every day.
If you want to sleep in a bed at a hotel on your way, you have to arrange that yourself
Really, a long haul bus ride it very tiring and can end up costing as much as flying.
Or you can go on Amtrak where the seats are more comfortable for sleeping or you can even book a sleeping berth,

Overnight Greyhound busses don't stop at motels. They drive through the night.
Without you saying what your city of origin and city of destination are, there's no way to look up what hours busses run between those two ocations.
