Which was your favorite grade level to teach? Elementary? Middle school? High school?

I am now studying for my teaching license. I decided to do the elementary school exam.

Anyone here that has taught in all 3 school levels?

The reason why I chose elementary school is because that is the stage in life before the children think of adults as idiots. Then once they get to 12 years old, they begin getting the whole "Whatever! You aren't the boss of me," attitude.

I know people who love teaching middle school. That's when hormones start playing havoc with them, but also the point where you can make a huge difference in keeping them excited in academics. High school teaching is usually done by people who have a much greater talent and interest in one school subject.

BTW, there's a lot more competition for teaching jobs at the elementary level.

Each level has its own challenges and rewards. If you connect better with, and think more of, elementary age students, then that is where you belong. If you do not see the potential in preteens and teens and assume they have a bad attitude toward teachers, then you and they are better off with you not being a part of their lives.
