Feeling alone with a mental illness?

I've just recently been diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder and I'm only 20 and things are really hard because of it...I got it from my mum who also has it but denies that she's got it, which kinda makes me feel..I don't know..left out in a way..or upset if anything..I wanted to connect with my mum (who I don't live with) I know it might sound really strange wanting to speak about OUR illnesses together but I just feel extremely alone in this, nobody but her in our family understands these random weird mood swings and racing thoughts/speech, lying etc. I kind of just wanted to vent here is all, I don't expect comments...I'm just feeling frustrated and alone and confused.

This is a quite common condition, and a common response to it. There is no "cure", of course but you have treatment options. Not all of them will work for you, but probably one of them will help decrease your symptoms. Hope you feel better. Good luck.
