    C7H6O3 + ( CH3CO)2 O -------> C9H8O4 + CH3COOH

    ** Moles of salicylic acid : 2.001 g x ( 1 mol / 138 g ) = 0.0145 mol

    ** Moles of acetic anhydride : 2ml x (1.6908 g / ml) x ( 1mol /102 g ) = 0.03315 mol

    The ratio of salicylic acid to acetic anhydride is 1 : 1 so acid is a limiting reactant.and the moles of aspirin produces : 0.0145 mol

    ** The theoretical amount of aspirin : 0.0145 mol x( 180 g / 1 mol ) = 2.61 g

    ** The percent yield of aspirin : ( 0.887 g / 2.61 g) x 100 = 33.4 %
