Can someone help me make sense of this;?

participants became less certain of their attitudes after resisting a message

this was especially the case when participants believed they had based their attitudes on the source of the massage as opposed to the arguments within the message.

this effect was shown to have implications for persuasion in response to a second message

:I don't know what is meant by, 'based their attitudes on the source of the massage as opposed to the arguments within the message.': What does this mean????

    It means that the participants responded to the message because of the person originating the message, as opposed to because of the content of that message. They cared more about whoever said the thing than they cared about what was said.
