Want advise, first solo dance?

Hi All,

I was told by my teacher last night that I can do the solo that I asked for. It's my 10th year of dance so I'm pretty used to recitals and all that by now. What I am looking for are pointers or things to make sure that I pay attention to as I learn the choreography or practice the choreo. I don't know what song yet as we haven't started yet, but I know the theme is Peter Pan. My first objective is to make sure that I am in really good shape and will be hitting the gym as much as I possibly can. Got to look good when you are on stage alone. :)

Congratulations, Lizardmomma! Get the choreography as deep into muscle memory as you can. Only practice at the studio, with your teacher watching. At home you can mark the choreography, or just visualize it, wordlessly. You want to stay out of your head (as Mintchips puts it) and into your body and the music. Above all, do not think while on stage!

make sure you change the energy of the movement throughout the piece. different movements should have different energies. good luck!
