IF you are emptying a fish tank with waste water, figure on a couple of minutes for each sink full of water. So for a 40 gallon tank, figure on about 10 minutes give or take-IF the water is clean and you don't have to stop and unclog the sink.

The question is how fast is fast? If fast is 1 gallon / day, it takes 40 days; if fast is 1 gallon per second, it takes 40 seconds. Now measure the speed.
