    It's when plants take in sunlight and convert it into usable energy via the chlorophyll that is in their leaves. Chlorophyll is green, that's why all the plants in the world are green. It's like solar panels if you think about it. Taking sunlight and converting it into energy to be used.

    Let me see if I can remember this from when I went to Second Grade:

    "photosynthesis is the process by which green plants manufacture glucose (sugar) from Carbon Dioxide and Water, in the presence of sunlight".
