    Net ionic equation.....

    Depending on the concentrations of the solutions, there may not be a net ionic equation, because there may not be a reaction. To have a reaction there must be an insoluble product and calcium hydroxide is sparingly soluble in water. For the sake of having a reaction, we will assume that solid Ca(OH)2 forms.

    2NaOH(aq) + CaCl2(aq) --> Ca(OH)2(s) + 2NaCl(aq) ..... "molecular"

    Ca2+ + 2OH- --> Ca(OH)2(s) ........... net ionic
