Is it absurd to think that a mouse could return to my home after being dropped off 15 miles?

    I catch mice and release them about 1/2 mile away and never see them again.

    Seen pet mice escape their cage and never found.

    That is a long way for a mouse to walk. If any of a host of animals see him, he would be dinner. I can't see much motivation for the mouse to return. Are you thinking the mouse had a real great deal at your house, maybe with a little mouse restaurant and bar?
