  • If you can t decide between two items when ordering take out (for yourself), do you ever just order both?

I may have a tendency to do this when I m 1) really hungry and 2) when I really want both dishes, even though I know that I will not be able to finish it by myself in one sitting.

I feel the need to justify this over-spending habit by asking this before I end up doing this after work lol.

  • I feel left behind at 25?

At 25 I still live at home, I just landed my first full-time job three years after graduating college and I still have never gone on a date ...

Though I should feel happy about the job, I can't help but feel this cloud looming over my head, raining on what should otherwise be a good situation.

All my friends are established within their respective positions/jobs/relationships and have done things like travel, moved out of their homes and just were able to move on with their lives. And here I am, the same, more or less.

Now, I don't mind the living at home bit as much as the other two things, but the fact that I haven't BEEN ABLE TO move out or support myself has been a drag on my self-esteem.

I'm not entirely sure what I expect by posting this on here, maybe its a way for me to contextualize what I've been feeling, but your thoughts on this situation would be nice ...

  • Is it a bad decision to take a job and work only 30 hrs/week to make room to do freelance work and to work on my passion project?

The job I am up for allows me to work a minimum of 30 and still get benefits.

I am also freelancing part time and can make up some of that money. But I d still be making $10,000 less a year because of it.

That said, this schedule gives me room to work on my other side passions (such as the freelance work), while having a position for a job that I really do like.

I don t have to worry about rent/utility payments at the moment, and so most of the money I would be saving up for when I will need to worry about that. I also have student loans to think about.

    What are your thoughts?

  • Is an online masters program worth considering if its ran by a reputable, competitive university like the University of Southern California?

I've been told that online masters programs are not worth a dime. But I find that still hard to believe in 2018. Is that really the case? What if the program is ran by a well-known university like USC?

I struggle with the idea of going back to a traditional, brick-and-mortar school. If I were to go back and pursue a postgraduate degree, it would have been something different. That being said, I don't want to spend 70k+ on a program that won't help me make gains.

    What are your thoughts?

  • What should I do with really salty (minced) chorizo?

I bought a role of chorizo and it ended up being especially salty, so i'm not sure what I should do with the rest. How can I counteract the saltiness?

  • I took up an offer to indefinitely extend an internship with some pay, but now I am no longer should if I want it?

It was a three-month internship at a local newspaper that officially ended last week.

They offered me an opportunity to extend my internship, and to pay me for the things that I write.

The pay isn't much, it hardly pays for my gas to commute, but I readily took up the offer.

Now, I am no longer sure if I want the position; I already know that journalism is not quite the career path that I want to move into, but that I still want to work in some sort of communications/media capacity.

What should I do? This all happened last minute, and I didn't really get much time to think about it. I just took it on the spur of the moment.

I would love to talk to my supervisor about this but unfortunately, he is in a place where he cannot readily be reached.

So, I'm stuck here in limbo, half-regretting my decision, left not sure what I am expected to do when I come in this week or how, if at all, the expectations have changed for this new "role". And most importantly, I don't even know if this extra work is worth beyond having my work published (I'm not counting the pay since 1) realistically, it will only be enough to pay for my gas and 2) I'm not even guaranteed to have enough "work" to earn enough to pay my gas).

Regardless of what I decide in the next 48 hours, I still plan on my doing my own thing and searching for other work. I just want to know whether it is worth spending any time on something I'm not entirely happy doing.

Words of wisdom greatly are appreciated.

  • Does anyone know the name of tea that is served in Thailand that is pink in color?

I remember visiting Bangkok with a friend in college and being served a pink iced tea while waiting to exchange money at a bank. Does anyone happen to know what kind of tea that may have been? I remember the tea having a mild floral taste and I really liked it.

  • Are Deist necessarily spiritual and if not, what makes a deist spiritual or not-spiritual?

I ve always defined by particular set of wordy views as "agnostic deism".

I affirm that I "want" to believe in a god, but cannot, and will not, say that "there is for sure" one.

Now, a set of Jehovah Witnesses (pleasant fellows) came knocking on my door and we talked briefly, and they asked my thoughts thereafter. I said I was not religious. And they followed with, "are you spiritual". And that caught me off guard (I said I am not).

So my question is, what exactly determines if a person is "spiritual"? Is it a believe in a god in general, or is it something more?

Note: I m not asking about your personal opinions on theism or religion = |

  • What is a good Google search ranking?

This is my first time dealing with SEO, and I managed to push my webpage to be the 19th search result. Now, considering I don't have the money biggest companies have, what ranking should I aim for? This is for a small nonprofit.

  • How do you deal with the mind-numbing feeling that you are not where you should be?

I just started an internship that I thought I would enjoy. Its been two years since I graduated college, and I've been yearning for this moment. But after the first week, I have this strong gut feeling that this isn't really what I want, but I can't explain why.

It's not the work nor is it the people. I'm just not feeling it. Imagine going on a date with someone you thought you would be heads over heel for, but the minute you go in for that kiss, you feel NOTHING. That's what this feels like.

I don't plan on quitting - I don't like quitting. And its only three months, and I just started. So its way too early just make a call, but my gut is just yelling man.

    What do you all think?

  • Am I making a mistake by investing unpaid time with the hope of a big pay off later?

I have been out of school for two years.

I have been volunteering for the last year.

I just got rejected from yet another job opening, but I did land this amazing internship with an amazing organization, but it is yet another unpaid opportunity.

So currently, I volunteer with one nonprofit, and intern at two organizations. So its not like I am doing nothing. I am putting in a lot of work, and expect to put in a lot more with this new internship.

And I feel fortunate to have the support I have been getting, not many parents would be so patient. But I'm starting to feel a strong sense of doubt and fear creeping in.

I do all of this so that I can open doors later on - I do hope to pursue a pretty intensive, but well respected science communication certification program next year.

Will all this unpaid work I've been putting pay off eventually?

Is it foolish to put in all the work without knowing if all that work spent towards that dream career will pay off?

  • If you were graduate student and received an email from a potential applicant, how would you respond?

I attempted to do this three times, and last two was the suggestion from the director of that program. I understand that they are busy, but it's been over two weeks and I have heard nothing.

It makes me feel like I gave off a bad impression with my email.

I would much appreciate any help in making sense of this because I just heard back from a job and was rejected, and now I'm just feeling SUPER self-conscious. I will get over it, but for now, thoughts (on the question)?

  • If I am one of three top candidates, I should hear back regardless of the decision, right?

I just had my 2nd interview last week, and I am assuming that I will hear back whether or not I got the job. I should hear back, regardless, right?

  • If an employer is looking to hiring ASAP and you get the job offer, would it be a bad to ask for time to think about the offer?

I know this much: I am one of three top candidates and they would like to fill in the position ASAP because the next few months will be a crazy busy time for them.

Should I even bother asking them for a 24 to 48 time frame to think about it if they don't offer time to think about it?

  • Should I take this dream internship or wait to hear back from an amazing job opportunity?

The internship could very well be the one thing that breaks me into my dream industry, and it is guaranteed, but it doesn t pay and its a few months only. BUT they could hire me if they like me ...

The job is for a nonprofit that I loved growing up, doing work I do enjoy, and it offers stability for the meantime. I should hear back next week.

    What would you do?

The internship is asking for my hours, and they do know that I m looking for work, should I ask to them to wait for a week so that I can make the decision knowing for sure whether or not that I have the job as well?

I m probably going to have to take one or the other because the job is 8 - 5.

The internship only has two spots open T_T and I don t wanna lose it by saying something stupid!
