Look on amazon or online for budgeting tips or money diets. It can be done. As with anything else, one has to use willpower and common sense.

Getting on a budget helps, but ultimately it’s all about your willpower. When you’re truly ready to stop spending money impulsively, you will find a way. Until then, nothing anybody tells you it’s going to work.

You just stop. I used to shop recreationally until I realized what I was doing. So I stopped visiting the stores I loved to "browse" in. I also don't visit websites which I know will tempt me to spend. For years now, I only buy what I need except for what I've budgeted for spending anyway I wish.
I also make a list every payday of things I NEED and make sure I get those items before I spend, if I spend, money on things I don't need but merely want.
So you need to budget. Buy a book by Dave Ramsey or some other financial adviser. Plan on a certain amount each month that you can "blow" anyway you wish. That way you will fulfill your desire to overspend without hurting yourself financially. OR next time you feel like spending, visit a dollar store. You can get just as much satisfaction from buying inexpensive items as expensive ones.
In regards to clothes - I have a friend who told me to buy an article of clothing only if I loved it - just liking it wouldn't do. I've found when I didn't follow that advice that I usually ended up not wearing it - or I would wear it once but not again. If you are a smaller person you can find brand names at thrift stores or consignment shops.

Keep a budget. Before you buy something, ask yourself how much do you REALLY need it. Even lottery winners have gone bankrupt because they buy everything they see.
