Why does my monitor show black screen?

I have a video card that has two hdmi ports. One is connected to the monitor and the other one is connected to a Receiver. The problem is that whenever i turn on my pc and monitor. The monitor will display black screen. It will work only if i turn on my receiver or if i disconnect the hdmi between the video card and receiver. Is there another way to fix this problem?

windows by default treats it as an extended display. you need to swap the hdmi cables around. until windows appears on the screen. and then you need to set it to single display mode. that said if your trying to get audio from it, i would look at spidf instead of messing around with dual displays just to try to get it going. or just connect your monitor to the receiver and done.

You have to make sure the cables are connected.
