Canon EOS. Lens not communicating with body.?

I bought a Chinese aftermarket lens for my Canon EOS. It worked fine when I bought it, but now it won't communicate with the camera body, which gives me the message "clean contacts." I have cleaned the contacts on the lens and the body. My other lenses still work. Any suggestions?

I made the mistake of buying a Yongnuo brand Chinese lens. I would advise that others avoid making the same mistake.

make sure all its switches are properly set (not half way on or half way off) especially if it has the ability to set the f-stop using a ring.Do canons keep a list of which lenses have adjustments? maybe its confused as to which lens it is and it may be expecting extra features to be present on the lens.

Yongnuo? You get exactly what you paid for.

If you bought it brand new and it's less than a year old, try bringing it back to the store you bought it from with the sales receipt and see what they'll do.

The price of that cheap lens is the same as a good secondhand but original Canon lens.
