Tips or ideas for a short story?

I have a short story due in a little over a day for college. It can be on anything 15 pages tops. Ive tried to write over 6 things but everything is garbage and not working out. I m used to writing novel length manuscripts so it s hard for me to contain an idea and develope characters in only 15 pages without sounding cliche or cheesy. If anyone has any tips or ideas or excersizes that would be awesome because I m losing my mind. I m not out to just blantenly take someone s idea just something to get the wheels spinning. Thank you!
