Randomly Dead Car Battery?

So my battery started dying on my way to school. 30 sec after I started it, the power steering went out. Next came the turn signals and the radio. Then the ABS, Traction Control, Brake, and VSC lights came on. I arrived at my school and turned the car off. I tried to restart it, but the battery was dead. Is this an alternator problem or a battery problem?

*Note: The night before, i accidentally kicked the fuse box while getting out (Pontiac Vibe 2010). I knocked the radio fuse out, but idk if that would affect anything.

Sounds like a problem with the belt to me, that's why the power steering stopped working. Have a mechanic check to see if your serpentine belt came off and why.

Don't go to a parts store, they don't fix cars, they sell parts. You need someone that can diagnose why the belt came off, you may need something called a "tensioner" also.

You need to charge the battery with a portable battery charger set to 12 volts, 10 amps for 6 hours. Then drive straight to an auto parts store where they will test your battery and charging system for free.

It wasn't random. When your alternator fails the battery quickly discharges when it is trying to operate a lot of electrical systems.

Your alternator is out, replace it, a car DOESNT run on the batty. After you replace the alt. and have charged the batty, then go by a auto parts and have them "load test" the batty to see if its good or not.

When a alt. goes out the car runs off of the batty. until its dead, and thats what happened to you.
