If i wire my cb directly to my battery will it kill my battery?

About to install my cb radio amd i want to go directly to the battery, positive to the battery and negative to the body, my inly question is can this end up killing my battery... will i need to shut the cb on and off everytime i get in or out,

    It will only drain the battery if you forget and leave it turned on. What you need to worry about is if the positive wire was run into the passenger compartment with out a fuse at the battery. When that wire shorts out you'll likely have a fire and roast the car!!

    It's a whole lot simpler to find a 12 volt tiepoint in the fuse box that's only powered when the ignition is on. That way you don't have to run a wire through the firewall and around the engine and the radio will be off anytime you shut the engine down.

    Yes, you will have to shut it off manually every time. Even so, it still may drain the battery. You could buy a relay. When wired properly a relay will send power from the battery directly to the radio, but only when the key is on. The guy at the auto parts store should be able to show you how to wire it. They only cost four or five bucks.
