It is a throttle body The first thing to do is to adjust the Throttle Position Sensor, which any manual or Geo Metro forum can guide you through. The other thing it sounds like is a vacuum leak. Could be injector, regulator, fuel pump. I is probably just the TPS. I bet the screws are missing and it can just move. There are always otrher things it could be like the MAP sensor but you can figure it out.

Check the timing. If it's wrong. likely the cam belt slipped. Do not try to correct the ignition timing, but examine the timing belt and change it if it shows wear. Verify the crank and cam timing marks are right.

Car is running lean. Check fuel pressure with a gauge at idle and when pressing the pedal. A weak fuel pump or a bad fuel pump regulator could be the problem.

it has a fuel injector and a fuel pressure regulator . When I push the peddle to the floor it tries to die , let off the gas it runs perfectly . if you feather the gas it will pick up RPMs but if you try to push it down fast it will fall off to a rough idle and could shoot a flame but let up ,, perfect , what could it be ?
