    In this type of trapezoid, the diagonals are congruent. So we can set the two diagonals equal to each other and solve for x.

    EG = HF = 13

    EG = EJ + JG (now substitute for these values)

    13 = (x + 5) + (2x - 1) (now solve for x)

    13 = 3x + 4

    3x = 9

    x = 3

    So EJ = x + 5 = 3 + 5 = 8

    and JG = 2x - 1 = 6 - 1 = 5

    and HJ = JG
