Real question got reported and taken down?

I asked, "how can I tell what breeds are in my terrier mutt?" because I actually wanted an answer. But within a few hours, the question disappeared and I wasn't notified about it. What could possibly have been wrong with that question?

If you didnt get a notice then you can be pretty sure its not been reported. Answers and especially comments do just vanish sometimes. I blame Trolls. I agree.Make your account private.

Notifications and therefore the possibility to appeal, are often not being sent out.

The full context makes a difference. A similar question years ago had something like this added at the end, "Do I cut up the mutt?". The violation can be in added details and updates, while the question is ok. If you want to know the reason for the violation, post "Why was this question (answer) a violation?" and add the original e-mail you got and/or any details you remember so the users can see the exact context. The experienced users here will explain it to you. Many times the violation is not in the question, but in the added details and updates.

If it had been reported as a violation, you would have been emailed about it and that would give you the chance to appeal if you felt it worth doing.

Somebody may have moved your question to another area. Have you looked at your profile - found at the top righthand side - 3 options.... Answers Home, Notifications and your name. I've checked your questions however, and can't see that question, which I do remember, there.

The only way you will know for sure is to get a DNA test through your Vet. We can take guesses but the truth comes out in the DNA test.
