Why do the religious fail to grasp the fact that words in a book don't equal truth without evidence?

The Sermon on the Mount is full of "Truth" statements.

Facts are not truths, they just are.

The facts determine the action as in the following:

"If _______, then _____"

The above statement is a truth statement.

Having "Tested" the teachings of Jesus (called Christ) I have found them true.

Science does not provide the answers on how to live! So while it is full of facts, it has no truth.

Why do the religious fail to grasp the fact that words in a book don't equal truth without evidence?

- Because that is all they have.

And I see all the time the fake argument that if you take that book and do believe it can't be the Truth. You don't get it, I get that. But others do, and you don't get that.

The bible is complete fiction

Since there is evidence that the words of the Bible are true, your question is pointless.

It's just easier for them that way. They just accept what they're told by their parents or pastors and then they don't have to any thinking or research on their own.

Objective science has so validated the Bible that it is no longer up for debate as to its truth.

In a word: faith.

Faith is no virtue, it is a grasp at what isn't. A weakness, a failure to comprehend. A willingness to believe what suits you, rather than what is.

It is just another word for pretend, and it drives ALL religion.

There is zero evidence for their god so all they have is quoting from their fairytale
