is it physically impssible for some people to be adequate piano players?

Obviously there are people who are unable to play piano because of a learning disability or physical handicap. I guess there are also a few people who simply have no aptitude for music and woukd never, realistically, become "adaquate".

There are FAR more people though who try to avoid the trouble of learning or can't be bothered to practice the things they have been taught. Playing the piano properly requires skills and a degree of co-ordination and left/right hand independence that no one has to begin with - these things need to be learnt.

I think a person who wants to claim that "they just can't do it" (for the reasons you suggest) they need to have spent a few years being taught by a good teacher and to have worked hard practicing the things they have been taught.

If so, I'm one of them.

Source(s): I have Developmental Co-ordination Disorder, dyslexia, autism and ADHD, so that's a lot of learning disabilities.
