They wanted the British Empire to protect them; feed them; and cloth them, but they didn't want to have to pay for it. When they were told they did have to pay for it they through a tantrum; ruined a bunch of British tea; and killed their protectors. It's like a child killing his mother and father because they told him he had to cleanup his room.

It's more complicated than that since Britain was taxing them but taking the money to fund their wars against France, so the colonists didn't see the money in the colonies, basically, in its simplicity.

I see little evidence of that. The Majority still love our Great American Constitution, support it, defend it, and love the Great principles clearly stated in our Declaration of Independence.
After revisiting and reading your update, I think you must have a Strange view of history. Have you been indoctrinated by some British Loyalists propaganda from the 18th century?
