When is the best time to drive between LA to Los Vegas? I left LA 11/22 and traffic was horrid. I left LV 11/25 and traffic was great.?

Well, you picked the worst possible day to leave LA: The day before Thanksgiving. And on your return trip, I assume you left early in the day, since I returned from Las Vegas that same day, but later in the afternoon. Traffic was pretty bad. Not the worst I've seen, but bad all the way to Barstow.

It's just a matter of hitting the road when others aren't on it. I thought I'd be fine leaving Saturday, but others must have had the same idea. Typically, Friday afternoons are the worst when leaving LA, and Sundays are the worst when coming back. Thursday nights can also be bad. I've driven out on a Friday morning (early) and had no problems.

Driving on a Saturday is usually pretty easy.

Friday between 10am-10pm

Driving LV to LA

You never want to hit LA during morning or even rush hour

Sunday between 9am - 8pm
