Is Jesus the Almighty God? What does Revelation say (NWT)?

Rev. 1:8 "I am the Alpha and Omega," says Jehovah God, "the one who is and was and who is coming, the Almighty."

Rev 21:13,16 "I am the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last.... I, Jesus..."

-- Jehovah God is the Alpha and the Omega.

-- Jesus is the Alpha and the Omega.

Add to that the witness of the prophet Isaiah:

Isa 44:6 KJV "Thus saith the LORD [Hebr YHWH - Yah'weh,Jehovah] the King of Israel, and his redeemer the LORD of hosts; I am the first, and I am the last; and beside me there is no God. (see also 41:4, 48:12)

-- Jehovah God is the first and the last, and the only God there is.

-- Jesus is the first and the last.

If Jesus is what Jehovah is, then Jesus is somehow Jehovah God, though not the Father, since the Father and the Son are not identical, as we well know. Yet both are Jehovah God.

I like the wording of your question. It's not easy to stay on topic and be logical.

Is Jesus the Almighty God? You just proved that He is, did you not?

Who is the King of Kings,is it not Jesus. Jesus is the only God to

rule this earth. Jesus is the Alpha and the

Omega and so is the Father. Isaiah 9,6, The government shall be

on his shoulder. He will continue to be the ruler of this earth. He

shall be called Emanuel,God with us.This prophecy was for the end

days.Who is the Creator in Genesis, the Lord God who spoke to

Adam? Was it not the Lord Jesus or Yehoshoah, Jehovah the

Savior? Who Created the Sabbath? Was it not the Lord of the

Sabbath, Jesus Christ Himself? When you read about the judgement

of God,is it not speaking about the One who has been given all

Judgment? When it talks about the wrath of God,is not this our Savior?

Is not Revelations 19 all about Jehovah of armies? When Jesus comes

to the earth, all those who call upon the Name of Jehovah will be

saved. There is only one Name under the whole universe that you can

call on in order to be saved. Jesus came to glorify the Name of His

Father by being called Jehovah my Saviour. Have You been with Me for

so long a time and you don't know Me! You see Me and you see the Father.

Why do you ask, show me the Father?

    So according to your reasoning;

Jehovah is King, Jesus is King, David is King, and Solomon is King. Thus Jehovah, Jesus, David and Solomon are all the same God.

Jehovah sits upon his throne, Jesus sits upon Jehovah's throne, David sits upon Jehovah's throne, Solomon sits upon Jehovah's throne, so Jehovah, Jesus, David and Solomon are all the same God.

(1 Chronicles 29:23) 23 And Solʹo·mon began to sit upon Jehovah’s throne as king in place of David his father . . .

As to Revelation, you had to stretch from Rev 20:13 to vs 16 to make Jesus the Alpha and Omega.

Yet in every place the expression 'Alpha and Omega' applies only to God Almighty the one in the vision sitting upon the throne, Jehovah.

According to Rev 1:1, Jehovah gave the vision to Jesus, who gave it to the angel who gave it to John who wrote it down.

Throughout Revelation we have these individuals and other speaking. Unlike a play where the character is clearly listed.

    Jesus: (read lines)

    John answers: (read lines)

Angel entering from stage left shouts (read lines)

John doesn't always give us the prompt of who is speaking what.

John 1:1 shows Jesus and Jehovah are not the same person, (many trintarians will say: "Jesus is not Jehovah")

John 1:5 John tells us about the God and Father of our Lord Jesus.

John 3:2 Jesus tells us about his God.

Now all of a sudden in Rev 22, everything changes and Jesus becomes God?

Then what is the context as to Jehovah being the first and last? His being God.

What is the context of Jesus being the first and last? His death and resurrection.

Trinitarians will tell you God died for them, and yet Paul tells us God can not die. (1 Tim 1:17)

And true Paul said there are those who are called 'gods', but then he adds - 'as indeed there are many gods and many lords'

Then he tells us 1Co 8:6 "yet for us there is but one God, the Father,"

Paul agrees with Jesus in telling us 'The Father is the only true God'.

    -------------

    edit to OPsaltis:

How many Almighty Gods are there? One Jehovah God. The fact that Jesus calls his God, the Almighty God, or the only true God, proves Jesus can not be the Almighty. (John 17:3; Revelation 3:2)

Saying Jesus is saying is speaking at verse 13 is your interpretation and not based upon truth.

The expression "Alpha and Omega" is used 3 times. In the first 2 times Jehovah God, the Almighty, is identified as the speaker.

Rev 21:5 And He who sits on the throne said, “Behold, I am making all things new.” And He *said, “Write, for these words are faithful and true.” 6 Then He said to me, “It is done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give to the one who thirsts from the spring of the water of life without cost. 7 He who overcomes will inherit these things, and I will be his God and he will be My son.

There is nothing in the text of Rev 22:13 that would change this established fact.

Sorry it is your desire that makes you say Jesus is the speaker of vs 13 and not the context of the entire book of the Revelation.

My NASB and ESV do not put Rev 22:14 & 15 in quotes, making vs 13 and 16 totally separate, and not the 'one continuous statement.' you want it to be.

You want Jesus to be God Almighty, no matter what God's Word actually says.

The Jews said Jesus blasphemed because he said he was God's Son.

Trinitarians say Jehovah's Witnesses blaspheme because we say 'Jesus is God's Son'.

Who are agreeing with Jesus' enemies?

I spent 22 years as a Witness. It is my belief that some how the Witnesses on this forum have their hearts blocked from the truth. God sees all, has allowed me to see the errors in the Witnesses Arian heresies, yet the Witnesses stubbornly refuse to acknowledge what is taught in Sacred Scripture.

I always wanted to follow God in truth.

For many, tradition and loss of family and friends is way to big of a price to pay to follow God.

I suffered greatly in the Witness cult, loss of family, death of loved ones and my rape as a child covered up. There is darkness in this sect and not light. The Witnesses feel it, know deep down inside that there are problems with their sect. Leaving is just too great a cost for them to give to God for truth.

Jesus is either God or He's not.... if He's God then He's the "Mighty God", "The Almighty God" and the "One True God".

JWs will argue He is not God but a god and then construct a whole series of delusional arguments to support the view.

The reality is that there is ONLY ONE GOD. There are no OTHER gods and the bible makes this plain and obvious if we raise our thoughts beyond the simple or man view… This causes JWs no end of problems as they try to deal with the reality that there is ONLY ONE GOD and argue it’s Jehovah but then accept Jesus is a god! This typically means they try to argue that there are MANY gods and Jesus is just one of them… but this is so flawed…. Why is there ONLY ONE GOD????

Firstly, there’s ONLY ONE TRUE GOD... meaning all other gods are fake, not true. In other words not real. Sure others can be treated as gods, appear to be gods, act like gods, etc.... but there are NOT gods... they are fake. There is ONLY ONE TRUE GOD.

Secondly Paul makes it clear.... "For even if there are so-called gods..." IF .... there's a big word..... but what could be clearer that "SO-CALLED" .. In other words things men call gods but are not.

Thirdly, JWs typically run to one of three areas when faced with this reality.....

    i) Moses was a god to Pharaoh.. this is the easiest to deal with and so blatantly wrong it's surprise they keep turning to it.. but they do. "See, I have made you like God to Pharaoh" ... This is even in the NWT.... LIKE A GOD.. ie. not a god!

ii) God called people gods. Not quite as simple and somewhat understandable to think this means there other gods if you can't elevate thinking very high. The simplest thing here is to ask if God is really saying these people are divine? Is He contradicting Himself when He said "Before me no god was formed, nor will there be one after me."?? Look at the context and see if the very people God was saying are gods really thought themselves to be gods... did THEY understand it this way? No no no no no. God called these people gods because they were exercise just ONE of God's tasks.... judgement. The bible tells us not to judge because that's God's job, but mankind needs a system of justice (evermore so as sin increases) and God recognises this by calling judges... "gods". Put it this way... are such men so different from other men? Are they not part of "everyone has fallen short"? Are they divine in anyway? Are they not a poor imitation of God, not gods?

iii)The god of this world. This is the most curious defenses because in essence to argue that Satan is actually a god is to elevate him to the very station he has strived for... i.e divinity. To simply accept that Satan is a god is to accept he is in some measure divine. More than that to accept he is the literally the "god of this world" means he has power in this world and he has none except that the ONE TRUE GOD allows, moment by moment, hour by hour, day by day. In other word the phrase "god of this world" is an expression has always been understood to mean "from man's perspective operate as a god" when the truth of the matter is .. Satan is a fake god with no divinity, no power and no authority at all. When JWs argue Satan is a god they speak Satan's words not Gods.

… and herein lies just one reality that justifies Christ be God. If there is ONLY ONE GOD and He’s not it then He’s a fake or unreal god…. And even JWs don’t believe that!

Not everyone is allowed to understand the Scriptures - Matthew 11:25 - At that time Jesus said in response: “I publicly praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and intellectual ones and have revealed them to young children. - - - - Only those with the right motives are allowed the understanding of God's word. Even the religious leaders in Jesus' day were mistaken - Matthew 22:29 - In reply Jesus said to them: “You are mistaken, because you know neither the Scriptures nor the power of God; - - -

    - Mark 12:24 - Jesus said to them: “Is not this why you are mistaken, because you know neither the Scriptures nor the power of God? - - - - These ones that Jesus was talking to had studied the Scriptures extensively, but not with the right motives. So they were not able to understand. So, I would encourage people to approach the hearer of prayer - Psalm 65:2 - O Hearer of prayer, to you people of all sorts will come. - - - - And ask for humility, a humble spirit - Psalm 138:6 - Though Jehovah is high, he takes note of the humble, But the haughty he knows only from a distance.

It doesn't matter what the NWT says. We have better translations that proclaim Jesus as God.

Jesus is God because the Father calls him God. It doesn't matter what anyone else says. Isaiah calls the "son born" Almighty God; Everlasting Father. So, if God is One, The One God multitasks.

I'm confused. You believe Jesus is god, but you keep referring to god as "Jehoovah". What mutant strain of Christian are you??
