molecules are more closer together in solids, thus energy is more easily passed

With an electric current running through each the solid creates more ions and anodes to have stronger impact on the voltage therefore keeping a steady current!!!???!!!

    thermal or electrical?

for thermal, it's because the atoms/molecules are closer together and can therefore transmit energy better. But actually it depends on the material. some solids are not very good conductors of heat, others are. Usually metals are the best thermal conductors, and that is true of electrical conduction also.
