Why do a lot of people seems to hate Serena Williams?

Part of it is the fact that she's not built like a prototypical tennis player; she brought strength and power to the game unlike anything previously seen. The fact that she's African-American in a sport that has, at best, had an awkward relationship to blacks doesn't help. She's made some interesting choices as to attire during tournaments that haven't been universally loved. Her father is a reprehensible piece of garbage in a sport known for awful parents. Having said that, Serena Williams belongs on the short list of greatest female tennis players. Period.

Because some people do think she is ugly, she is not a gracious loser and she has had 2 on court incidents towards the on court officials that many found to be offensive.Some might say that it's because she is black in a sport that has, had an awkward relationship to blacks, and while that is an interesting theory there is no way to prove that it's a factor.

She doesn't always seem to be a gracious loser. Some of her critics complain about some of her rants after a tough loss.
