I always do something for my boyfriend. Financially it isn’t a flashy gift since I’m a full time student with no job. It’s usually something small and practical along with a nice long massage on the day

you better at least have something ready , if he does something for you.
but why wouldn't you . don't you love each other .maybe you two should then just break up on valentines day.
if you have no romance for each other

Absolutely. My boyfriend and I don't do anything out of the ordinary for Valentine's Day (it's just not our thing), but we celebrate in our own way. I'm planning on making something for him this year.

I can not speak for all wives and girlfriends but most of
us generally do get our guys a gift on Valentine's Day.
Or at least a card. Many of us make or bake something.
like cookies, cakes or candy.

It's a personal matter. Some do. Some don't. BUT it's a real problem the other way around if something isn't done/purchased. Some women think it's all about girls. They don't consider men in this particular marketing campaign.

This is a very subjective question.
It's like asking if wives and girlfriends pay for dinner when they go out. Who are we talking about? Everyone is different.
Some people don't even celebrate valentines day due to beliefs/opinions.
If you're asking SHOULD they. then my advice is that they should be checking with their boyfriend/husband if they celebrate valentines day or intend to buy them a present, and based on their answer they will know how much they should reciprocate.
Either both should or both shouldn't.
