How long do I have to have braces for? Other solutions?
I have been told by several different dentist I have had that I don’t need braces. Both my top and bottom row of teeth are straight but I have gaps between my top row of teeth. If i was to get braces, how long would it take since the whole point of braces are to straigthen the teeth. And Is there other solutions instead of braces? Thank you!

The "average" time for wearing braces is 18-28 months.
The more correction needed, the longer the time.
If you want a more accurate estimate, you need to have an appointment with an orthodontist who can actually see your teeth.
Many orthodontists offer the exam and consultation at no cost to you.
There is Invisalign -- a series of "trays" that are worn, but the time is often the same. Moving teeth too quickly can cause permanent damage.

it usually well mine was (and they screwed it up-I was a kid and they pulled to many of my teeth on the top, left a missing tooth and not enough on the bottom jammed them to tight ) was 2 years. but now they have a guard thing that is to replace braces for "older" people-they take a mold of you teeth and it fits over them-I see the commercial all the time. Not sure how much or if it works. You might have to look it up in your area.
