    Large zoos tend to assign employees by section. My friend worked at the Bronx Zoo in the bird section. At a smaller zoo you might have to cover several areas.

    That said, competition for jobs like that is intense.

    You would be lucky to be hired at all, for any department.

    Raises are almost nonexistent because there are always more eager applicants.

    Of course not. As in other jobs, you do what your employer wants you to do. Not what you want to do.

    no, and most zookeepers work with many different animals.
