Anyone use a BYOP device on straight talk and how to unlock?

Update:

I have a phone that I thought was unlocked and has been provisioned only on Straight Talk. My new provider says it is locked. IMEI lookup says its original carrier was AT&T, straight talk says they can't unlock it. AT&T will not unlock a phone that isn't on their network.

So I thought any BYOP to straight talk has to be unlocked? Am I getting conflicting answers?

    Much like AT&T/T-Mobile, it is possible to take your Verizon Wireless device and use it with Straight Talk on the Verizon network through Straight Talk's Bring your own CDMA Phone Program. Anything Else. If you have anything besides an AT&T, T-Mobile or unlocked GSM handse
