What do YOU think of South Carolina's Parody Marriage bill for Gays?

It appears to be a waste of taxpayer money to consider legislation that can accomplish nothing so long as South Carolina continues to offer marriage to its heterosexual residents. Under the Due Process Clause and the Equal Protection Clause of the U.S. Constitution, the services and privileges it offers one group of residents must be offered to all groups, including to homosexuals. The bill cannot change that. However, legislatures may spend their time however they want, so if they wish to be seen spending it making pointless bills, they are well within their rights to do so. Not my state - not my problem!

That it's exploiting a cowardly loophole.

Are you recycling obsolete questions from pre-legal gay marriage now? Federal law trumps state law. The end.
