I can only speak for myself, but I have a variety of games. Should I not be able to play online for whatever reason, I still have plenty that I can play which don't require online.

I don’t know of anyone who only has strictly online only games. Most games have the option to play online or off, especially console games. And most gamers have some other game that can be played offline. If the internet isn’t working it’s really not that big of a deal. Just go do something else until it is fixed.

There is still a large market of games that do not have online capabilities. Mainly RPGs. Though most games do have online conectivity of players vs. players, this is more or less an option, as many games will have a single player mode and a online mode. The main reason why there is an online mode in video games, is becuase the possible increase of profit from the DLC and microtransactions from those games. A company will make more money from the game if it has an online mode.. That's why many games have them now.
However like I said there are many games that do not and sell 10s of millions of copies that are for single player gameplay only. Some well known titles of this are games like Elderscrolls: Skyrim or Fallout 4.
