can chicken be smoked like Deer?

odd question just wondering because I have some in my freezer and was just thinking about a disaster if we lose elec can I smoke what is in my freezer?

    Because of the possibility of salmonella in chicken, smoking is not recommend because the meat will not get hot enough to kill salmonella.

    sure. Google "smoked chicken" to find lots of recipes.

    re the concerns about bacteria, recipe says "Smoke the chicken until the internal temperature of the leg reaches 165F"

    Question is, how long will it last without refrigeration. And I don't see that answered.

    edit: smoked meat does not last long unrefrigerated. To get something that lasts, you have to slice it into thin strips and dry it. In other words, make chicken jerky. Here is a recipe:
