Such a silly question. There is no need. When people couldn't talk to each other around the globe to unify to a single religion, and because of different environments (weather patterns, animals, plants to eat, rivalry with other people), cultures developed differently, so the mindset and perspective of spirituality diversified. Even if freedom is allowed, spiritual views can shift from one generation to another.

When you have a people who don't know other people, there is just one religion. But today, we have explorers and travelers who have discovered there are different people and different religions.

Do you actually mean to ask, "why are there different denominations and sects of the same religion?"?

    That's a more interesting question.

Yes...what is the need. How wonderful that we can all live in agreement because of ONE religion that is in harmony with Truth and JEHOVAH!

    satan's confusion.

    that's the simple answer.

there is but ONE GOD (and ONE LORD).

    - I AM THAT I AM is who HE "IS".

FATHER has many names and titles.

since the tower of babel satan has been hard at work to hide HIM from people.

Who said they're needed? They aren't.

If you could ask Satan this question, he could give you the truthful answer.

"There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit distributes them. There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord. There are different kinds of working, but in all of them and in everyone it is the same God at work.

"Just as a body, though one, has many parts, but all its many parts form one body, so it is with Christ. For we were all baptized by one Spirit so as to form one body—whether Jews or Gentiles, slave or free—and we were all given the one Spirit to drink. Even so the body is not made up of one part but of many."

  • Technically there is only 1 religion and a bunch of false ones (counterfeits you could say). I know it's worked into our language where people call Islam a religion, call Buddhism a religion, but it's not really accurate to call them a religion Hundreds of years ago Christians called them false religions, they weren't afraid to say it but now with the PC crowd our language has adopted them into the category of religion when they shouldn't be

Religion makes a lot of money and gets tax breaks. Set up your own religion in the USA, get your followers to tithe and you are set for life for very little work. Just consider starting a church with just fifty families coming along every Sunday to hear you preach. If each of those families has an income of $50,000 a year and they all tithe, you get $250,000 a year essentially tax free for a few hours work. Just imagine what the mega-churches rake in.

I know, right? If God were real, there would be only one religion.
