All water cooled cars have at least 2. One cooling the engine and one for the interior heating. Turbo charged cars may also have an intercooler, which is another radiator and sports cars an oil cooler as well.
Air cooled cars have heat sinks (fins that give a large surface area for air cooling) and heat exchangers that may look a bit like radiators.

Your friend has no clue what they are talking about. The only cars that don't have a radiator are air cooled such as the old VW beetle was.
Can't you see the cooling system reservoir tank?
The radiator may not have a radiator cap if the reservoir has a pressure cap on it.

Air cooled engines do not require a radiator, however the 1999 Chevy Malibu is not air cooled!

Your friend isn't real smart. Some old air-cooled engines (VW and Chevy Corvair, for example) didn't have them but your Malibu is not one of them. Of course, electric cars such as Tesla do not have radiators either.

Not all cars have radiators (I know VW did not have one) but I bet you Malibu does have one. Why don't you look and see as that is a very simple thing to do?
