I need sleep, how can I get sleep?

I have exploding head syndrome every night. The last time I went to ER, I had signs of a heart attack. This has gone on for almost 2 decades, people are killing me with loud, sudden noises. Please, no nonsense answers like I've been getting for all my questions.

Update:

I use earplugs every night. 17 years of this, I've tried everything. I describe in more detail on my PTSD page: http://www.onemindrestoration.org/therapy-ptsd.php...

Update 2:

I hate overdosing on melatonin and whatnot, but I can do that again, I suppose. I really don't want to die right now. I wish there was another solution.

Update 3:

I've tried all the noises and machines, the only thing that works is eliminating the loud, sudden noises, which are beyond my control.

Update 4:

I'm feeling like I can't think, yet I can think a little bit. This might actually be good for me. Wait, this is the wrong Q I'm updating. This is about the melatonin one.

I think drugs ARE the answer in this case, maybe an overdose.

Have you tried having loud, monotonous white noise?

Why not simply put earplugs in your ears....Then you won't be startled.
