A question for experienced writers?

Hey guys! I just had someone offer to get my writing out to other people but i dont know if i can trust what she says. Can any experienced writers out there give me advice on trusting my instincts in this situation? Thanks and have a good day!

It has more to do with doing your due diligence than simply trusting your instincts. Do your research on the person offering. Find out more about them as an individual and who they work for. Check out their social media profiles from Facebook to Twitter to LinkedIn. If they're legit, you'll know. If their social media is sketchy or half-assed at best, I wouldn't be quick to trust them or their credibility.

You should probably try looking into reputable publishers and get your name on a cover first the worry about getting it out there.

What do you mean by "get my writing out"? Is this friend a professional literary agent, or a publisher, or is she just some cluless kid?

What do you mean by "get your writing out to other people"? Is this person an editor at the New Yorker or Penguin Random House, or just some yahoo with a blog?

Like Whatever and Voelven said, do your homework on this person before you agree to anything, and especially before you sign anything that looks like a contract. Unless your writing is already fairly well-known, or you've done something newsworthy, the chances of an offer like this being legitimate are quite low. Reputable people in the publishing business don't need to go looking for unknown writers to parade in front of the world - they already have more than enough wannabes coming to them. I suspect that the person who's contacted you is, at best, a clueless amateur who's started a publishing company without knowing the first thing about running a business, and at worst, a scammer who'll try to cheat you out of tens of thousands of dollars.
