I have a water chemistry problem.?

I have a well that pumps into a tank. The water is crystal clear but has a metallic taste. I had a problem with algae so I put some chlorine into the tank and it immediately turned yellow/orange. Is the chlorine reacting to some mineral in the water?

I am thinking there is a lot of iron in that water, myself. Get it tested.

Many local governments have a free program to test your water. Mail them a sample.

What is happening in your well is unknown, get it tested.

The tank, if you have a typical system, is perhaps 20 gallons and anything in there would get flushed out in a few days.

"it immediately turned yellow/orange" ? hope you are not drinking that?
