What is the kinetic energy of the aircraft? What is the potential energy of the aircraft? What is the total energy of the aircraft?

    using SI :

    31000 ft = 31000*0.3048 = 9449 m

    544 mph = 544*1.6094/3.6 = 243.2 m/sec

    Ek = m/2*V^2 = 285/2* 243.2^2/1000 = 8,428 Mjoule

    Ep = m*g*h = 285*9.8*9.449 = 26,391 Mjoule

    E = Ep+Ek = 8,428+26,391 = 34,819 Mjoule
