I will mention that the polygraph is a scam. It's own inventor actually denounced it later in life. It was based on no science whatsoever, just the intuition that a liar probably would sweat, have increased heart rate, and so forth. Modern scientific tests of it consistently show that it does only mildly better than pure chance at identifying liars except under VERY specific situations.

And it's not just that it fails to detect lies, it falsely reports truth as lies. This is why it's inadmissible in court. A friend of my father's is a veteran FBI agent and he says they had no faith in the polygraph. They'd only use it to deter people who they KNEW were cranks. They'd ask them to take a poly, and they'd usually give up and go away and stop wasting the FBI's time.
