Is 72 a good age to die?

My great uncle (my grandmother's brother) just died the other day, he was 72 years old. Do you think that's a good age to die? If not, tell what you think a good age to die is.

No it is too young for most people. I'm 71 and have a lot to do yet. I have every intention of making it well into my 80s.

A lot depends on quality of life, like L E Gant said. My dad died at 64 and it was way too late; his illness had been a living hell for him for at least three years, and pretty bad for the two years before that. My mom died at 63 and that was too early; the transplant list for kidneys was too long and she refused to accept one from any of her kids.

So I'd say 72 is more than okay, assuming he had a life filled with the things most people want and need, like family, love, and long-term interests.

Three Score and Ten is the span of a man.....its in the bible. I think it was put in there because that was what they considered a full life. The real question is is how did your uncle end his years? Was he sitting in a nursing home, living from one meal to the next? Or was he out and about golfing and enjoying stuff?

Depends on the quality of life available to the person. My mother died at 84, but the last year of her life was hell. My dad died at 91, which was a bit early -- he was still extremely active and enjoying life.

average life expectancy of a homosapien male is 78.7 years

So, maybe a little younger than avg, but not too far off?

Yes that's an exceptional age to pass. Long life, but didn't drag on needlessly.
