Can plants see?

A man had planted pumpkins in his garden. I went over to his place, pointed at the baby green pumpkin with my finger and said that it was cute. He became extremely angry and said that pointing at growing fruits kills them. Within a week, the fruit shrunk and died. What scientific explanation can help me? Or can plants really see or sense fingers pointed at them? I know this sounds crazy but please help. The man is mad at me.

I think plants are blind but maybe they can sense around them. Like venus fly traps know when to close and some plants grow to the nearest wall.

Cleve Backster (CIA) did experiments in 1960 and found out that plants can feel (fear/panic), "see" - they can receive electric impulses like a radar, communicate with other plants and develope defense taktics like poison.

You can even find some videos at YouTube.

Fingerpoints does not have any harmful reactions to plants but if you injure them, they can feel it. They like classic music.

He probably knew that plant was going to die and was just messing with your mind. No, pumpkins or plants can't see.

well personally I doubt that any kind of plant can see but I do believe they can sense something .or at least 2 that I know of .....1 of them is a venus fly trap and 2nd is a sun flower ..because ive witnessed them (sun flowers ) move facing the sun as it went thru the sky......it took time for them to move but ive witnessed them facing the sun as it crossed the sky no matter what the time of day
