How did the name lucifer, become tied to biblical character Satan, who rebelled against God?

Makes no sense to me. Satan from the Bible is said to be god of darkness and evil. The name lucifer means to bring light. It’s the exact opposite. The Bible only uses the name lucifer once. To describe a morning star. Which I believe is referring to Venus.

Why would an entity who is god of darkness, be given a name that means light?

What man thinks the Bible states is irrelevant, it is only what the Holy spirit thinks that is important. What name satan has is of no value, who and what he is is all you need to know.

The fact of the matter: Lucifer, was created perfectly by God, and when Lucifer rebelled, he became Satan the man of sin, Baal, read 1 Kings 18:40 read Isaiah 14:12

It's kind of a sequence of misreadings.

The kings of Babylon adopted, as a grandiose title, the Babylonian name for the morning star. "Light-bringer" is a translation of that name.

The Biblical prophet Isaiah included in his writings a diatribe aimed at a king of Babylon. It begins (14:12) with lines that translate:

How you are fallen from heaven,

O Lucifer, son of the morning!

where, of course, "Lucifer" translates a Hebrew version of that royal title.

We know that in the early Christian times, there were Jewish tales concerning rebellious ("fallen") angels. (See 2 Peter, chapter 2.) So it was natural for them to pick up this notion of "fallen from heaven" (which they were finding in the Septuagint, a Greek translation of Hebrew scripture) and attach the name Lucifer to the perceived chief of these rebellious angels. Hence, the connection to Satan.

Sort of but not exactly. Satan in Judaeo/Christianity is from Hebrew satan "adversary, one who plots against another," or "to show enmity to, oppose, plot against," from root s-t-n "one who opposes, obstructs, or acts as an adversary."

That which is anti-God is satanic.

Lucifer means "shining one" used at Isaiah 14:12-15. If you read the entire chapter 14 of Isaiah, you will notice it refers to a human being, not a spirit. It specifically talks about the King of Babylon Nebuchadnezzar who in his arrogance had to humble himself as foretold by the prophet Isaiah. His dynasty came to an end.

Lucifer doesn't refer to Satan although Satan has the same qualities of arrogance and pride and soon he will come to an end.

Actually in Judaism Satan is not a fallen angel (never was). He is an angel and he works as a sort of prosecuting attorney for God... he tests man for God, he plays 'devil's advocate', if you will, on God's orders. He was man's adversary (the word ha satan means adversary).

In ancient times the word Lucifer literally meant the 'morning star'... specifically the planet Venus. At one point in the original Hebrew scriptures, there is a reference to the fallen morning star-- but it was referring to Nebuchadnezzar II. Meaning the kingdom, once great, fell to ruin.

Later in Christianity, they started changing the interpretation. Lucifer came to be associated with the devil, and the story of 'the fallen angel' came about.... they believed the passage about the morning star (Lucifer) falling was literal instead of a metaphor. They started associating the snake in the Garden of Eden with Satan/devil (Jews don't). They turned Satan into God's adversary.

The Bible actually doesn't talk much about the 'fall'... most of the story came later, out of Milton's Paradise Lost, that made it a more vivid picture in our minds.

There's a world of difference between the Jesus, the light of the world, and Lucifer, the carrier of false light. There are several names for satan in the Bible not just one or two. Deception comes from Lucifer who started and runs false religions that point away from Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord.

Satan is not a God... He is a creation of God like angels, demons, humans, etc.... He isnt a God.. if God so wanted, he could take Satan out of the world.. But he chose to leave him here for a test of our faith to remain good... its our choice,,

Read Isaiah chapter 14 verse 12 up until that time Lucifer was still called Lucifer. And God bitterly mourned the fall of one of heavens greatest angels at this book of the Bible!

It's fiction. That's why it makes no sense
