GPS itself uses ZERO data. You can turn your mobile data of and your GPS will still function.
GPS uses radio time signals from special orbiting satellites to tell the phone where it is. The phone just listens for the time signals it does not need to interact or transmit!
The only time using GPS is going to eat into your data is if you are using services that rely on downloaded maps such as Google Maps!

No, it only takes about 20mb for about 30-45 mins, so it won't really affect your data when using GPS.
