1991 nissan navara d21 cranks but wont start!?

Hi I recently bought a 1991 nissan navara d21. When I was driving it from the prevoous owners home the fan belt broke. I immediately pulled over and got the car towed home. Now after replacing the fan belt the car will crank and try to start but wont acctually get there. I have tried putting petrol in the carby and it starts but wont continue to run. Any ideas on what my issue could possibly be?

Sounds like a fuel delivery issue...bad fuel pump, clogged filter, clogged strainer in fuel tank, clogged carb/stuck float or needle valve, etc..

If possible, remove the fuel line/hose from the pump at the carb and try cranking the engine. If fuel does not pump out of the line in good volume, then you'll need to see if you're getting fuel at the pump or a bad pump. Disconnect the fuel line/hose from the fuel tank at the fuel pump and run a new section of correct size fuel hose from the pump inlet fitting into a gas can with fuel in it....mount/hold gas can just above level of fuel pump. Then try cranking the engine as before. If you do get fuel delivery at the carb line, then the lines/hoses to fuel tank or filters are clogged.Replace as needed. If still no fuel delivery at carb, then the pump is bad. Might be best to just replace all the fuel system parts on a truck that old....fuel pump, filters, hoses, strainer inside fuel tank, tank corroded?...replace tank.

    Get the fuel pressure tested

Replace the inline fuel filter. Check fuel delivery at the carb inlet while cranking. Check the float setting, check the needle valve and clean/replace the jets.
