Whenever I bake a chocolate cake it doesn't taste like chocolate. I follow the recipe but it ends up tasting bland and flavourless?

I put chocolate icing in top to make it taste better, but I I wish the cake tastes nice. When I buy chocolate cake it always tastes really good like chocolate. Do you know any good chocolate cake recipes that taste really good like chocolate?

Try using cold coffee for the liquid in the recipe, or adding a tablespoon of instant coffee (dissolved in a small amount of hot water. Coffee can deepen the chocolate flavor, as can a small amount of cinnamon. You can also add more cocoa or chocolate to the recipe.

I think the flavour tends to be similar to what your personality is as a person

Obviously you need more chocolate. Use 4 -1 oz squares of unsweetened and 1 full cup of cocoa pl;ys 2 teaspoons vanilla. That should do it.

Always use cocoa powder and not hot chocolate powder to your cake mix, Also if you add coffee powder along with the cocoa powder it brings out the chocolate flavor.

About a third of the cocoa amount should do the job.

Fine coffee powder is better than freeze-dried / granules, It blends in better.

Maybe you can use two or more types of sugar in the cake such as dark brown sugar, light brown sugar, cane sugar.

Try add black coffee (freshy brewed) coffee intensifies the cocoa and enhances the taste. Coffee really brings out the taste of the chocolate cake

You need pure cocoa and butter.

It depends on the chocolate you are using as to how "rich" or "chocolaty" it will taste.

If you happen to have a can of Cocoa powder there is a recipe for a very good chocolate cake. If there is not one on the container check out the website for Hershey's and look for the cake recipe.

If you want a truly decadent chocolate cake and if you like coconut and pecans look for a recipe for a German Chocolate Souffle Cake. The one I am talking about is by a baker by the name of Julia Baker so in your search put..Julia Baker's German Chocolate Souffle Cake. When I saw it made I was watching a show called The Chew. I printed the recipe and made it that week. I have made it several other times.

Side note though it will give you a recipe for a garnish of whipped coconut milk to put on top. I really do not think it adds anything to the cake and I omit it.

Always use Real butter in your recipes. Butter is no longer considered 'bad' for you. Margarine or a butter/margarine might be the issue. Always use fresh eggs too.
