7, 8 hour work days consecutively in Massachusetts?
I’m a full time shift leader at a truck stop and my manager consistently schedules me 7 days consecutively, once I even had 11. The hours end up being split between 2 work weeks so it doesn’t exceed 40 hours. But I read somewhere that every full time employee is required to be given 1 day of rest out of every 7. The 7th consecutive day the first 8 hours are time and a half and anything after is double time.
So I should be getting time and a half on this 7th day.
If I didn’t want to work more than 6 in a row I can legally decline.
Is this correct?

365 consecutive 8 hour days are 100% legal, as long as you have at least 24 consecutive hours off at least once every 7 consecutive days.
In many states, there are no legal time off requirements.

By federal law (which MA is required to follow), a "work week" is any 7 consecutive days and does not have to follow a calendar week. If you have Wed and Thu off, then work Fri through Thur, and then have Fri and Sat off....That's ONE work week and if the hours are over 40 they are legally required to pay you overtime.

Massachusetts law does require a "day of rest" of at least one day off in any consecutive 7 days, again it doesn't matter if it's a calendar week or not. However, this law has an exemption for business which sell food and are not restaurants.

They aren't required to give you the same day off every week.
The way the law is written, they're allowed to give you a day off and then work you for six days, following by working you for another six days and then giving you a day off. Unless they're working you thirteen days in a row, they haven't violated the statute.
They've given you one day of rest in each seven.

Try to find out what is in your contract and than tell him. If he'll fire you than you can come with a lawyer, but first inform yourself and don't say you read itr somewhere, that is just nothing to rely on. Have it as copy and than you can act. I personally think that you should have after 6 days the seventh day off, but that is just my feeling.
