    Examine the limit from the left of 1

    lim x-->1- f(x) = lim x-->1- (1-x) = (1-1)=0

    Examine the limit from the right of 1

    lim x-->1+ f(x) = lim x-->1+ (x+7) = (1+7)=8

    Since lim x-->1- ≠ lim x-->1+, the limit does not exist

    If x is just a little less than 1, whats the value of the function?

    If x is just a little more than 1, whats the value of the function?

    If the two above values are the same, then thats the limit, else the limit doesnt exist.
